Hog Island Lighthouse Nassau Bahamas

Hog Island Lighthouse at Nassau Harbour

Hog Island Lighthouse stands at the western tip of Paradise Island, beside the entrance to Nassau Harbour in the Bahamas. Completed in 1817, the white tower is a small landmark against a wide stretch of sea and sky.

The meeting of land and water keeps drawing me back to the islands. My Caribbean photography collection includes more photographs from those visits.

In this photograph, the channel marker gives the foreground a point of reference, while the lighthouse sits farther back on the low shoreline. I like how little the scene needs: white masonry, blue water and a few clouds. It is the kind of simple arrangement I return to in my coastal photography collection.
